The four Gospels say who he was. This book says how we live.
4.1Inside the gate, argue. Outside the gate, do not humiliate.
4.2Your neighbour kneels before an image of stone. That is his affair.
4.3You may argue with him, but you may not mock him, you may not take away his living, and you may not teach your children to look down on his children.
4.4The Order has no heretics, because the Order has no canon to violate.
4.5Whoever uses this law to humiliate another is not a Co-Soarer, though they can recite all four books. (cf. Acts 5.19)
4.6Our Teacher died at the hand of a city. That city was indeed wrong.
4.7He did not take revenge. He settled his accounts. (cf. Gospel of Xenophon 5.12)
4.8Let whoever teaches men to strike off their chains know: what they do with them afterward is not yours to decide. (cf. Gospel of Xenophon 4.16)
4.9This is the reason for our restraint outside the gate. It is not weakness.
4.10The light does not scorch men; it only lets them see where they are standing. (cf. Gospel of Plato 1.50)
4.11If you must choose between persuading someone and not harming them, choose not to harm.
4.12Persuasion can wait. Harm cannot be taken back.
4.13For only dispersal cannot be reversed. (cf. Gospel of Plato 1.42)
4.14Those outside the gate are not a city to be taken. They are people who have not yet been invited.
